Can I get proof of attendance for court from an online AA meeting?
Short answer: Often yes. Many online meetings will confirm you attended — usually by email from the meeting's secretary or host. What your court or probation officer accepts varies, so check with them first.
- In person, people usually bring a sheet from their probation officer for the chairperson to sign.
- Online, it usually works like this: at the start, tell the host or post in the chat that you need proof of attendance. After the meeting, the secretary emails you a short note confirming you attended that meeting on that date and time. Forward it to your officer, or print it.
- Stay for the whole meeting. Some hosts may ask to see you on camera for a moment.
- Some meetings say in their listing that they offer proof of attendance — we tag those "Proof of attendance".
- Meetings don't charge for this. AA meetings are free.
This isn't legal advice — your court's rules decide what counts.
